Origami Narwhal: Create this Magical Sea Creature in a Few Easy Steps

Origami is the art of paper folding and it’s a great way to make something beautiful out of a simple sheet of paper. Origami also helps to develop fine motor skills, spatial awareness, and patience. If you’re looking for a fun and easy origami project, why not try making an origami narwhal? Narwhals are mythical sea creatures known for their long tusk, and this origami version won’t disappoint.

Materials Needed for Your Narwhal

Before you get started, you’ll need to gather a few simple materials. First, you’ll need a piece of paper. This paper should be square. You can find origami paper in craft stores or online, or you can cut a piece of paper into a square yourself. You can use any kind of paper you like, but if you’re just starting out, it’s best to use a thinner paper, such as copy paper. You’ll also need a pair of scissors and a pen or pencil.

Getting Started: Fold the Paper into a Triangle

To begin your origami narwhal, take your square piece of paper and fold it into a triangle. To do this, hold the paper so that one corner is pointing up and one corner is pointing down. Fold the right corner of the paper over to the left corner. Then, fold the top corner of the paper down to the bottom corner. You should now have a triangle with a flat side and two pointed ends.

Creating the Head and Body of the Narwhal

Now take the triangle and fold it in half lengthwise. Make sure that the pointed ends are still pointed in the same direction. Fold the bottom corner of the paper up to the top corner and then unfold it. Now take the bottom corner and fold it up again, but this time fold it up only halfway. At this point, you should have a triangle with a flat side and two pointed ends, with a fold down the middle of the flat side.

Take the pointed ends of the triangle and fold them down so that the points meet the fold that you just made in the middle. This will create the head and body of your narwhal. You can now unfold the entire triangle. You should have a fold down the middle of the flat side and two folds at the top and bottom that form the head and body of the narwhal.

Creating the Tail and Fin

Now take the bottom corner of the narwhal and fold it up to the top corner. Make sure the fold is tight and flat. This will create the narwhal’s tail. To make the fin, take the left corner of the paper and fold it to the right corner. This should create a triangle that stands up from the body of the narwhal. Now take the top corner of the triangle and fold it down to the bottom corner.

Finishing Touches

To finish your origami narwhal, take a pen or pencil and draw a face on the head of the narwhal. You can make eyes, a mouth, or any other features that you like. You can also use scissors to make the fins and tail more pointed and give the narwhal a more realistic look. Finally, you’re all done! You’ve just created an origami narwhal.

Making origami animals is a fun and easy way to pass the time and put your origami skills to the test. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced origami artist, you can create a beautiful origami narwhal in just a few steps. So get out your paper and get started on your own magical sea creature.
