How Many Flowers Should You Have in Your Wedding Bouquet?

When you’re planning your wedding, picking out the perfect bouquet is an important part of the process. Not only do you want to make sure your bouquet is aesthetically pleasing and in keeping with your theme, but you need to ensure that you have the right number of flowers. But, how many flowers should you have in your wedding bouquet?

The answer to this question is largely dependent on the size of your bouquet, the types of flowers you’re using, and your personal preference. Generally, the larger the bouquet, the more flowers you’ll need. Although, you don’t necessarily need to fill your bouquet to the brim with flowers. Instead, you can use strategically placed greenery to fill out your bouquet, while still making it look full and beautiful.

Types of Flowers to Include

The flowers you choose to include in your bouquet should depend on your wedding theme and the overall look you’re trying to achieve. However, some popular types of flowers to consider include roses, carnations, lilies, daisies, and baby’s breath. Additionally, you may want to include some greenery such as eucalyptus, ferns, and ivy. If you’re having a smaller bouquet, you can go for a single type of flower, or a few different types. If you’re having a larger bouquet, you can choose a few different types and incorporate some greenery as well.

Smaller Bouquets

If you’re having a smaller bouquet, typically, you won’t need more than 12-15 flowers. This can include anywhere from 3-4 types of flowers, and some greenery, depending on the size of the flowers and the look you’re going for. If you’re having a smaller bouquet, but don’t want to compromise on the look, you can go for larger, showier flowers such as roses or lilies, to ensure your bouquet is still eye-catching.

Medium-Sized Bouquets

For a medium-sized bouquet, you’ll need more flowers, usually anywhere from 20-30. This can include a few types of flowers and some greenery to fill out the bouquet. When selecting your flowers for a medium-sized bouquet, you can opt for a few larger showier flowers such as roses, and some smaller filler flowers such as baby’s breath or daisies.

Larger Bouquets

If you’re having a larger bouquet, you’ll need more flowers, typically around 40-50. This can include around 5-7 types of flowers, with some greenery to fill out the bouquet. When choosing your flowers for a larger bouquet, you can go for a few larger showier flowers, such as roses and lilies, and some smaller filler flowers such as baby’s breath and carnations. Additionally, you may want to consider adding some greenery, such as eucalyptus or ivy, to fill out the bouquet and give it a more full and lush look.

Ultimately, the number of flowers you need for your wedding bouquet is dependent on the size of your bouquet, the types of flowers you’re using, and your personal preference. However, with a few simple tips, you can easily decide how many flowers you need to make your wedding bouquet look beautiful and full.
