What You Need

Making an embroidery hoop stand is a fairly easy task that requires little skill, but lots of patience. Before you get started, there are a few items you need to have on hand first. Most of these items can be found at a craft or home improvement store. You will need a drill, a drill bit, wood screws, wood glue, wood dowels, wood blocks, wood glue, a saw, sandpaper, paint, and several embroidery hoops. Once you have the materials, you can begin the process of making your embroidery hoop stand.

The first step to making your embroidery hoop stand is to decide on the size of your stand. You can find a variety of sizes in both round and rectangular shapes. You will want to measure the area in which you plan to place your stand to determine the size that will fit best. You will also need to consider how much weight the stand will need to hold. This will determine which type of wood you need to use for the base of your stand.

Cutting the Wood

Once you have decided on the size of the stand, it is time to start cutting the wood. You will need to cut four wood blocks to the size you have chosen. The blocks should be cut to the same size so that they are evenly spaced when they are put together. You will also need to cut four wood dowels that are the same length as the blocks. Using a saw, cut each dowel into four pieces.

Once the wood is cut, you can begin assembling the stand. Start by attaching the four blocks together with wood glue and wood screws. Make sure the screws are flush with the sides of the blocks. You will then need to attach the four pieces of dowel to the sides of the blocks. This can be done by drilling holes in the blocks and then inserting the dowels into the holes. Make sure the dowels are evenly spaced around the blocks.

Finishing the Stand

Once the stand is assembled, you can begin to sand the wood. Use a medium grit sandpaper to smooth out any rough edges and make the surface of the stand even. After sanding, you can then paint the stand in the color of your choice. You can also add a few decorative embellishments if you like.

The final step to making your embroidery hoop stand is to insert the hoops into the blocks. Measure the diameter of each hoop and then drill a hole into the center of each block. Use the drill bit that is the same size as the diameter of the hoops. Once the holes have been drilled, insert the hoops into the holes. Make sure the hoops are firmly in place and that they are evenly spaced.

That’s it! Your embroidery hoop stand is now complete. You can now use it to display your beautiful embroidery pieces. This is a great way to show off your work and proudly display your creations.
