Origami is the art of paper folding, which is often associated with Japanese culture. In origami, you start with a flat sheet of paper and transform it into a finished sculpture using simple folding and sculpting techniques. There is an endless array of origami models that can be created, ranging from simple to complex. One of the most beloved origami models is that of Mickey Mouse, the beloved cartoon character first introduced in 1928 by Walt Disney.

Gather the Supplies

Before you can begin the origami Mickey Mouse, you need to gather the supplies you will need. You will need a single sheet of square origami paper, scissors, and a ruler. The paper should be in a single color, preferably black or dark blue. If you do not have origami paper, you can use any square sheet of paper that is about 6 inches by 6 inches. If your paper is not already square, use the ruler to cut it into a square shape.

Fold the Paper

Once you have your supplies, you are ready to begin folding the paper. Start by folding the paper in half diagonally. Unfold the paper and fold the two sides in towards the center crease. Unfold the paper again and fold the four corners into the center. Unfold the paper and fold it in half again. You should now have a paper with eight sections.

Create the Ears

Now that you have your paper folded, you can start to create the ears. Start by folding the top left section downwards, creating a triangle shape. Do the same with the top right section. Fold the bottom left and right sections upwards to create two more triangles. Unfold the paper and cut off the excess paper at the top. Unfold the paper and you should have two triangle shapes.

Create the Face

Now that you have the ears created, you can move on to creating the face. Start by folding the bottom left section upwards to create a triangle shape. Do the same with the bottom right section. Unfold the paper and cut off the excess paper at the bottom. Unfold the paper and you should have two triangle shapes.

Create the Body

Now that you have the face created, you can move on to creating the body. Start by folding the top right section downwards to create a triangle shape. Unfold the paper and cut off the excess paper at the top. Unfold the paper and you should have a triangle shape.

Assemble the Parts

Now that you have all the parts created, you can assemble them to create your Mickey Mouse origami. Start by taking the two ears and taping them to the face. Next, tape the body to the face. Finally, tape the bottom of the body to the bottom of the face to complete the model.

Conclusion

Creating an origami Mickey Mouse model is a great way to explore the art of origami. With some basic supplies and a bit of patience, you can have your own Mickey Mouse origami sculpture in no time. Once you have completed your model, you can show it off to your friends and family.
