Origami Celebration Crane: A Quick Guide

Origami is the art of paper folding, which is thought to have originated in Japan in the 17th century. It has since become a popular pastime, with people of all ages creating unique and interesting paper shapes. One of the most popular origami designs is the celebration crane, which has been used throughout the centuries to commemorate special occasions and give good luck. Here’s a quick guide to creating your own origami celebration crane.

Step 1: Prepare the Paper

Before you begin folding, make sure you have the right materials. You’ll need a square piece of paper, preferably a lightweight one so that it is easier to fold. If you want to make a colorful crane, use origami paper with different colors on each side. Once you have the paper, fold it in half diagonally to create a triangle.

Step 2: Make the Body

To create the body of the crane, start by folding the triangle in half, then fold the top corner down to the bottom corner. Flip the triangle over and fold the top corner down to the bottom corner again. You should now have a small square with four flaps. Next, fold the flaps in half so that they form a triangle shape. Finally, open the flaps and fold the top two corners to the center so that the flaps form a square.

Step 3: Form the Wings

To form the wings of your crane, fold the top two corners of the square down and tuck them in the middle. Flip the paper over and repeat the process with the bottom two corners. Now you should have two triangle-shaped wings.

Step 4: Make the Head and Tail

To form the head and tail of your crane, fold the top corner of the triangle down to the bottom corner. Flip the piece of paper over and fold the top corner down to the bottom corner again. You should now have a small triangle with two flaps. Fold the flaps in half so that they form a triangle shape. This will be the head of your crane. To make the tail, fold the bottom corner of the triangle up to the top corner. Flip the piece of paper over and fold the bottom corner up to the top corner again. You should now have a small triangle with two flaps. Fold the flaps in half so that they form a triangle shape. This will be the tail of your crane.

Step 5: Assemble the Crane

To assemble your crane, start by folding the wings in half and tucking them between the head and tail. Next, fold the tail up and tuck it under the head. Finally, fold the head down and tuck it under the wings. Your origami celebration crane is now complete!

Origami celebration cranes are a fun and easy way to commemorate special occasions and bring good luck. With this quick guide, you can make your own origami crane to celebrate your next special event. Have fun and happy folding!
