Origami Necklace DIY: Create A Stylish Piece of Jewelry
Origami has been around for centuries, but the art of paper folding has recently become a popular way to create beautiful pieces of jewelry. Origami necklaces are an easy project that can be completed in a few hours with minimal supplies. You can make a unique piece of jewelry that is as stylish as any store-bought necklace. Read on to learn how to make an origami necklace DIY.
Supplies Needed
To make your origami necklace, you will need paper, glue, scissors, a ruler, a pen and a piece of string or jewelry cord to hang your necklace from. You can use any kind of paper you like, but glossy or patterned paper gives the best results. For the glue, you can use a hot glue gun or a craft glue. If you are using a hot glue gun, make sure you have an adult present to help you use it safely.
Step One: Measure and Cut the Paper
Start by measuring out a square piece of paper that is the size you want your finished necklace to be. Using your ruler and pen, draw a line around the edges of the paper. Once you have done that, carefully cut out the square you have drawn. Once the square is cut out, you can set it aside for now.
Step Two: Fold the Paper
Now it’s time to start folding the paper. Start by folding the paper in half diagonally, making sure that the corners line up. Then fold the paper in half again, this time from corner to corner. Now you should have a smaller triangle shape. Fold the triangle in half, and then take one end and fold it towards the center. When you have done that, repeat the same process with the other end. You should now have a diamond shape.
Step Three: Glue the Paper
Now it’s time to glue the paper together. Start by putting a small amount of glue on one of the points of the diamond. Then, carefully press the other point onto the glued point. Make sure that you press firmly so that the glue sticks. Once you have done that, you can turn the paper over and do the same with the other two points. Once the glue is dry, you should have a diamond-shaped origami piece.
Step Four: Attach the Cord
Once the origami piece is complete, you can attach the jewelry cord or string. Start by cutting a piece of cord that is long enough to go around your neck. Then, glue one end of the cord to the back of the origami piece. Once the glue has dried, you can tie the other end of the cord around the origami piece. Make sure that you tie it tight enough so that it will stay in place.
Step Five: Wear and Enjoy!
Your origami necklace is now complete! Put it on and enjoy your stylish new accessory. You can also use other colors and patterns of paper to make different styles of necklaces. With origami, the possibilities are endless!
